A More Responsible Generation
Breathe a sigh of relief: 4 out of 5 teens report that they are concerned about the environment. In a survey of 767 U.S. teens from 13 to 19, it was found that over 80% were bothered by the fact that the United States represents one of the world's leading sources of pollution, and more than half (54%) are strongly bothered by it. Indeed, a majority of teens (61%) actively agree that their generation will be more environmentally responsible than older generations, and more than three quarters (78%) believe there is still time to repair the damage already done to the environment. Are teens themselves actually taking action? More than half (52%) say they have deliberately and consciously cut down on unnecessary energy usage, but almost two thirds (65%) still think they don't conserve energy as much as they should.
MySpace Goes Political
MySpace, the largest Internet social network for teens, has launched a politics channel ahead of the 2008 U.S. presidential elections. Links to the profiles of the five Democratic and five Republican presidential candidates are now available. What better way to get a now 16-year-old hooked into voting in two years time? Over the past few months, candidates have vowed to use the power of the Internet to communicate directly with voters. Internet and technology-savvy young potential voters, such as MySpace's audience of teens and young adults, have been notoriously hard to reach.
At launch, Clinton's profile page claimed about 359 friends. Obama's page listed 66,080 friends.

That is one cool nurse! I know my son is going to learn this stuff somewhere, and if the schools are afraid of teaching it, at least they are recommending someone appropriate who also talks teen.
