Question:

I found empty condom box in my 13 yr old boy's pocket. I have talked a lot about sex and drugs with him and he understands the consequences. I don't want to over react now that I'm faced with this. Do I make him break up with his girlfriend?

First of all, if you had to find out anything about your son's sex life, thank goodness that you found condoms. (Though I understand this may be of no solace.) But you are his parent, and you have every right to acknowledge what you found. Let him know that you found the empty condom box, and go from there. If he is having sex (and safer sex at that), you can tell him that you are glad that he is using protection but explain to him that you have other concerns as well - and tell him what they are. But in terms of breaking up with his girlfriend, I think that we all know how teens react to those sorts of demands. Not only will they continue sneaking around, but may do it simply to spite you.
